Parish & Council Bus Shelters

Parish & Council Bus Shelters

Bespoke bus shelters designed specifically for parish and town councils. Durable, low-maintenance aluminium construction with heritage or modern designs. Serving communities across the UK for over 30 years.

A Smart Investment for Your Parish

We understand that buying street furniture is just one small part of your role as a Clerk or Councillor. You need a solution that satisfies the community, fits the budget, and—crucially—doesn't require constant attention once it's installed.

At Alotek Shelters, we work with dozens of local authorities across the UK. Whether you are replacing a dilapidated shelter in a conservation area or installing a new stop for a housing development, we handle the technical details so you don't have to.

From the initial site survey to the final safety check, we provide a complete, "turnkey" service designed specifically for local government.

A Smart Investment for Your Parish

Why Councils Choose Alotek

1. Built to Survive Public Use

Vandalism and weather damage are the biggest drains on parish budgets. We design our shelters to be tough. We use high-impact glazing (toughened glass or polycarbonate) and robust frames that resist graffiti, impact, and harsh British weather.

2. The "Low Maintenance" Advantage

We manufacture our shelters from high-grade aluminium. Why? Because unlike timber, it doesn't rot, and unlike steel, it doesn't rust. For you, this means no annual maintenance budget. You won't need to hire contractors to sand, paint, or treat these shelters—a simple wipe-down keeps them looking new for years.

3. Sympathetic Designs

We know that a modern glass box doesn't fit every village. Our range includes heritage-style designs with pitched roofs and traditional colours, allowing you to upgrade your infrastructure without changing the character of your parish.

4. Fully Compliant

All our installations are designed with inclusivity in mind, adhering to modern DDA (Disability Discrimination Act) standards to ensure wheelchair accessibility and passenger safety.

Safe, Well-Lit Waiting Areas

Our shelters provide comfort and safety for passengers in all conditions, with optional solar lighting for nighttime visibility.

Styles to Suit Your Community

We offer two distinct design profiles, both built from our durable, rust-free aluminium to ensure longevity.

The Heritage Profile

Best for: Village greens, rural parishes, and conservation areas

Designed to respect the aesthetic of traditional English villages. We can finish these in a deep "Traffic Black" or "Moss Green" powder coating. With options for pitched roofs and decorative finials, they offer the classic look of a timber shelter but with none of the rot or upkeep issues.

The Metro Profile

Best for: Town centres, busy main roads, and modern developments

A clean, contemporary design that maximises visibility. The open structure improves sightlines for bus drivers and passengers, making it a safer choice for busy roadside locations.

How We Work With You

1. Step 1: The Chat

Call us or email your requirements. If you aren't sure what you need, we can advise on the best footprint for your pavement width.

2. Step 2: The Quote

We provide a fixed-price, no-obligation quotation valid for 30 days, giving you time to present it at your next council meeting.

3. Step 3: The Support

We can provide technical drawings to help with any necessary permissions, funding applications, or community consultations.

4. Step 4: Installation

Our DBS-checked team installs the shelter efficiently. We can even remove and dispose of your old shelter, leaving the site clean and ready for use.

Common Questions from Council Clerks

Do we need planning permission?

In many cases, replacing an existing shelter falls under "Permitted Development" rights. However, new locations may require permission. We can provide the drawings and specs you need to check with your Local Planning Authority.

Can you remove our old wooden shelter?

Yes. We offer a full "rip-out and dispose" service. We will safely dismantle the old structure and dispose of it responsibly before installing the new one.

Are your shelters vandal-resistant?

Yes. We offer various glazing options depending on your location. For high-risk areas, we recommend high-impact polycarbonate, which is virtually unbreakable.

How do we pay?

We are set up for Local Authority invoicing. We accept purchase orders with payment terms of 50% deposit and 50% upon completion.
