3. Quotations and Orders

3.1 Quotations

All quotations are valid for 30 days from the date of issue unless otherwise stated. Quotations are provided based on the information you supply. Prices may be subject to change if specifications or requirements change.

3.2 Acceptance of Orders

A contract between you and Alotek Shelters Ltd will be formed when we accept your order in writing. We reserve the right to refuse any order at our discretion.

3.3 Specifications

All products are manufactured to the specifications agreed in your quotation. Custom products are made to order and cannot be returned unless faulty. We recommend reviewing all specifications carefully before confirming your order.

4. Pricing and Payment

4.1 Prices

All prices are quoted in British Pounds (GBP) and are exclusive of VAT unless otherwise stated. Prices include delivery and standard installation within mainland UK. Additional charges may apply for:

  • Remote locations (Scottish Highlands, islands, Northern Ireland)
  • Difficult access sites
  • Ground works or foundations beyond our standard scope
  • Planning application support

4.2 Payment Terms

Standard payment terms are:

  • Deposit: 50% deposit required to commence manufacture
  • Balance: Remaining 50% due upon completion of installation
  • Trade customers: Net 30 days from invoice date (subject to credit approval)

We accept payment by bank transfer, cheque, or card (processing fees may apply). Late payments may incur interest charges at 8% above Bank of England base rate.

5. Delivery and Installation

5.1 Delivery Times

We will provide estimated delivery and installation timescales with your quotation. These are estimates only and not guaranteed. Typical lead times are 4-8 weeks from deposit payment, depending on product complexity and current workload.

5.2 Installation

Installation is included in our standard pricing. Our installation team will:

  • Conduct a pre-installation site survey
  • Install the product to manufacturer specifications
  • Remove all packaging and installation waste
  • Provide usage and maintenance instructions

5.3 Site Preparation

You are responsible for ensuring the site is ready for installation, including:

  • Clear and level ground (or suitable existing hard standing)
  • Adequate access for delivery vehicles and installation equipment
  • Utilities marked and located where relevant
  • Any required planning permissions or permits obtained

6. Cancellation and Returns

6.1 Cancellation by Customer

You may cancel your order before manufacture commences for a full refund. Once manufacture has started:

  • Cancellations are subject to charges for materials ordered and work completed
  • Custom-made products cannot be cancelled once manufacture begins
  • Minimum cancellation fee: £250 + VAT

6.2 Consumer Rights

For consumer customers, you have certain rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. However, custom-made products are exempt from the 14-day cancellation period. If goods are faulty, we will repair, replace, or refund as appropriate.

7. Warranty and Liability

7.1 Product Warranty

We provide the following warranties on our products:

  • Aluminium framework: 25 years against structural failure
  • Powder coating: 10 years against peeling or flaking
  • Polycarbonate glazing: 10 years against yellowing or breakage
  • Installation: 12 months workmanship warranty

Warranties are subject to normal use, proper maintenance, and do not cover damage from vandalism, extreme weather events, or improper modifications.

7.2 Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the value of the contract. We are not liable for:

  • Indirect or consequential losses
  • Loss of profits, revenue, or business opportunities
  • Delays beyond our reasonable control
  • Damage caused by third parties or improper use

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

8. Force Majeure

We are not liable for delays or failures in performance resulting from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to: acts of God, severe weather, pandemics, strikes, material shortages, or government restrictions.

9. Data Protection

We process your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy and UK data protection law. By using our website or services, you consent to such processing.

10. Dispute Resolution

If you have a complaint or dispute, please contact us first to resolve the matter informally. We aim to resolve all complaints within 14 days.

If we cannot resolve the dispute, you may use alternative dispute resolution services or pursue legal action in the courts of England and Wales.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of our website or services shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of our website or services after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

13. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that the remaining provisions remain in full force and effect.
